How accurate are the identifications?

Accuracy depends on the photo. A clear, well-lit, in-focus shot of the pest itself usually gives a strong top match. Blurry, distant or partial photos lower confidence. When you're unsure, use the feedback control to mark whether the top match was correct — it helps improve future results.

Do I need to create an account?

You can browse the pest library, the IPM guide and most of the app without an account. Some features — like saving identifications or submitting feedback — may require signing in.

What happens to the photos I upload?

No. Pest Pal is an informational tool. For severe, recurring or health-impacting infestations — especially involving termites, rodents in food areas, or stinging insects near children or pets — always consult a licensed professional.

The Pest Pal library currently covers 200 species across ants, cockroaches, termites, flies, mosquitoes, beetles, arachnids, rodents and more, each with biology, behaviour, habits and recommended control methods.

Can I search pests by behaviour?

Yes. The Library page has searchable filters for biology and behaviour traits — for example nocturnal, scavenger, or indoor harborage — so you can find pests by how they act, not just what they're called.
